Speaker Profiles:

Tony Huber, Australian Consul-General

 Tony Huber is an experienced career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and has served as a Director in a range of positions in Canberra including India Economic and Indian Ocean Rim Association Section, Pacific Bilateral Section and Consular Information and Crisis Management Section. Mr Huber has served overseas in Ottawa (Deputy High Commissioner), New Delhi (First Secretary) and Washington DC (seconded from DFAT as a policy advisor to the US Congress Committee on Ways and Means staff). Mr Huber holds a BSc from the University of Canberra and a Graduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade from the Australian National University.

Leonie Muldoon, Minister Commercial and Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner, South Asia, New Delhi, India

Ms Leonie Muldoon is responsible for developing Trade, Investment and Education links between Australia and South East Asian countries including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in her present role. She was earlier posted as a senior Trade Commissioner in Japan. Ms Muldoon has worked in a diverse sectors including call centres (Sitel Corporation-CEO Australia and COO Asia Pacific), consulting, training (General Manager Professional Service-Standards Australia) and online legal publishing (CEO-TimeBase). Ms Muldoon holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Law with Honours from Monash University, and a Master of Law from Columbia University, New York.

John Madew, Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner – Mumbai

John Madew is Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner based in Mumbai and leads the activities across South Asia for attracting foreign direct investment for Australia.  Mr Madew has been with Austrade for over 15 years including roles in the UK, Canada, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya and Mauritius.

Madew began his career as an analyst in credit insurance and trade finance and has worked with organisations in the ICT, resources, infrastructure, and education sectors. Mr Madew holds a Bachelor of Business (Banking & Finance) and is a qualified accountant.

Sam Ghosh, Executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Capital

Sam joined the Reliance Capital in April 2008. Before joining Reliance Capital, Sam was the Regional CEO of Middle East and India Sub Continent region of Allianz, a German insurance company. Prior to that, he was the CEO of Bajaj Allianz Life and General Insurance and set up operations for Allianz in South East Asia.

He spent ten years in Australia in various senior roles with Allianz – from CFO to managing subsidiary companies as well as setting up operations in the Pacific Rim.

Sam Ghosh is a Chartered Accountant from England and a Mechanical Engineer.
